Root code execution via unchecked list copy
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AX1803 firmware 1.0.0.1 allows attackers to crash the router or execute code through a crafted list parameter. The sub_8C1EC helper passes the list value to strcpy, which copies it into a fixed-size stack array without checking its length. The published HTTP request includes an ecos_pw cookie, but the disclosure does not establish whether valid authentication is required; successful control-flow hijacking yields a root shell.
