Remote code execution via unchecked list copy
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda AC1206 firmware 15.03.06.23 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted SetIpMacBind request. The fromSetIpMacBind function passes the list form value to strcpy, which copies it into the fixed-size mib_buf stack array without a length check. Unauthenticated network access to the management interface is sufficient; the published proof of concept demonstrates a crash, and the researcher reports reliable root-shell execution.
