Remote code execution via unchecked sprintf copy
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC1206 15.03.06.23 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted speed_dir value. formSetSpeedWan passes attacker-controlled speed_dir data to sprintf with a %s format and stores the result in a fixed-size ret_buf stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation crashes the router or yields a root shell.
