Remote code execution via unchecked index formatting
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC1206 firmware 15.03.06.23 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted index parameter. The formWifiWpsOOB handler formats the unbounded index value with sprintf and writes the result into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking its length. A crafted POST to /goform/WifiWpsOOB can overwrite control data, crash the router, or yield a root shell without user interaction.
