Remote code execution via unbounded page formatting
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC1206 15.03.06.23 allows remote attackers to crash the router or execute code via a crafted page value. The fromAddressNat handler passes the unbounded page parameter to sprintf with a %s conversion and writes the result into the fixed-size gotopage stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful control-flow hijacking yields a root shell, while simpler payloads interrupt service.
