Password-hash disclosure via anti-CSRF token generation
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Credential disclosure in Craft CMS 3.0.0 through 3.7.32 allows remote attackers to obtain bcrypt password hashes from anti-CSRF tokens. The token generator mixes the authenticated user's stored bcrypt hash into the CRAFT_CSRF_TOKEN cookie without encoding it and into the HTML field with reversible Yii masking. Exposure follows email-or-username authentication; SAML-authenticated users are unaffected, while token access reveals an offline-crackable credential verifier.
