Application crash via crafted JPEG decoding
Published Aug 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Memory corruption in libjpeg commit 281daa9 allows attackers to crash applications that decode a crafted JPEG image. The upstream report locates the fault at linemerger.cpp line 262 in LineMerger::GetNextLowpassLine during image reconstruction but does not disclose the invalid memory operation. An application must process the crafted image; the documented consequence is a crash, not code execution or data exposure.
