Sensitive data extraction via unescaped post parameter
Published Nov 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 25, 2025
SQL injection in Uwe Jacobs OWM Weather before 5.6.9 allows remote authenticated users to read database data via the post parameter. The owmw_duplicate_post_as_draft action inserts the unescaped post value into an SQL statement, allowing appended queries such as a time delay. Contributor-level WordPress access and an existing weather post are sufficient; successful injection can expose sensitive database content.
