Unauthenticated file disclosure via nextpage path traversal
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Hitachi Kokusai ISnex camera, encoder, and decoder firmware allows remote attackers to read arbitrary operating-system files. The /ptippage.cgi endpoint accepts a crafted GET nextpage parameter containing relative path sequences and returns the referenced file without enforcing its restricted directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; disclosed files can include sensitive device data such as /etc/shadow.
