Unauthenticated device reboot via unprotected upgrade endpoint
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Missing authentication in Hitachi Kokusai Electric ISnex network monitoring devices allows remote attackers to reboot them by HTTP POST. The /ptipupgrade.cgi endpoint processes a crafted POST without verifying the expected HTTP Basic Authorization header. Network access to the device web interface is sufficient; a successful request interrupts monitoring during the restart, with no reported data exposure or modification.
