Application crash via malformed ZIP indexing

Denial of service in Splunk Enterprise and Universal Forwarder affected releases allows local users to crash the application via file monitoring. The Monitor Processor indexes a specially crafted ZIP file and crashes when processing malformed compressed data, with repeated restart attempts also failing until the file is removed. Exploitation requires write access to a monitored directory not restricted to Splunk, system, or root accounts; default monitored directories and tightly privileged paths are informational only.
