Stored XSS via case-sensitive href filtering
Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Silverstripe Framework 4.0.0 through 4.11.12 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript through crafted links. HTMLEditor link sanitization fails to account for letter casing in the href attribute name, allowing mixed-case variants to carry JavaScript URLs. CMS content-author access is required, and the payload executes when another user views the stored editor content.
