Elevated code execution via improper buffer validation
Published Aug 23, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Improper buffer validation in LCFC BIOS on affected Lenovo consumer notebooks allows local users with elevated privileges to execute arbitrary code. The BIOS validates an attacker-controlled buffer incorrectly, but Lenovo has not disclosed the handler, copy operation, or input channel. Exploitation requires elevated local access to an affected physical notebook and executes code in the firmware security context.
