CVE-2022-37400

Stored-password recovery via reused initialization vector

Published Aug 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cryptographic weakness in Apache OpenOffice 4.1.12 and earlier allows attackers to recover stored web-connection passwords. The password-storage code encrypts every entry in the user configuration database with the same initialization vector under the master key. Exploitation requires access to the user's configuration data and exposes saved connection credentials without knowledge of the master password.
