Local privilege escalation via uncontrolled search path
Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
Uncontrolled search path handling in Intel Quartus Prime Pro before 21.3 and Standard before 21.1 allows local users to escalate privileges. The software searches an uncontrolled path while resolving executable code, but Intel has not disclosed the loading routine or directory order. A low-privileged authenticated user must have local access and induce user interaction; successful exploitation grants higher privileges.
