CVE-2022-37260Network attack vector

Service interruption via inefficient URI normalization regex

Published Sep 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Regular expression denial of service in StealJS Steal 2.2.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted module input. In main.js, URI dot-segment removal passes the input string through chained regular expressions whose worst-case matching consumes excessive CPU. No privileges or user interaction are required; processing a malicious string can monopolize the JavaScript runtime and stall the consuming application.
