Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG upload
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Claroline 13.5.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted SVG file upload. Several image-upload forms, including resource-icon upload, accept arbitrary SVG content and store embedded JavaScript without rejecting or sanitizing it. Execution requires a user to open the uploaded SVG; the script then runs in the Claroline origin and can access data and actions available to that user's session.
