Unauthenticated code execution via MIME validation bypass
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Claroline 13.5.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted PHP file. The uploadImage method trusts Symfony's MIME classification, accepts any type beginning with image, and stores a PHP file carrying GIF magic bytes. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied PHP in the web server context.
