Account compromise via unlimited login attempts
Published Sep 8, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Improper authentication throttling in PlexTrac before 1.17.0 allows remote attackers to obtain valid user credentials via login brute force. The login page accepts unlimited password attempts for PlexTrac-provider accounts without rate limiting or account lockout, processing thousands of requests per minute. Exposure requires a reachable login page and an account using the PlexTrac provider; a successful guess grants that user's platform access.
