Authenticated command execution via unsafe SystemCommand construction
Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-816 A2 firmware 1.10CNB04 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through SystemCommand. The /goform/SystemCommand handler inserts the command parameter into a buffer with snprintf and passes the result to doSystem without neutralizing shell metacharacters. A valid tokenid is required; successful exploitation runs commands with the router service's privileges and can reboot the device or obtain a root shell.
