Authenticated command execution via decoded user fields
Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-816 A2 firmware 1.10CNB04 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via a crafted request. The /goform/form2userconfig.cgi handler Base64-decodes username and newpass values and passes them to doSystem without neutralizing shell metacharacters. An authenticated web session is required; successful exploitation executes supplied shell commands, with a reboot demonstrated and device compromise reported.
