Unauthenticated SQL injection via GB2312 wide-byte bypass
Published Aug 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in admin/area.php in BlueCMS 1.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary database queries via a crafted area_name value. The handler applies magic-quotes processing but uses GB2312 encoding, allowing a wide-byte sequence to neutralize quote escaping before the value is concatenated into an INSERT statement. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation can read or alter data accessible to the application's database account.
