Root-shell execution via unbounded UpdateSnat parsing
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C H200 H200V100R004 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted UpdateSnat request. The UpdateSnat handler passes the attacker-controlled param value to sscanf with an unbounded %s conversion, overflowing a smaller stack buffer. Network access to the web management interface is sufficient; successful exploitation can crash the process or yield a root shell without user interaction.
