Root code execution via unbounded sscanf conversion
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C H200 firmware H200V100R004 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted aspForm request. SetAPWifiorLedInfoById parses the attacker-controlled param value with an unbounded sscanf %[^;] conversion into a smaller stack buffer, overwriting adjacent stack data. The request reaches the device's web interface, and successful exploitation can interrupt the process or obtain a root shell.
