Unauthenticated root shell via unbounded sscanf field
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C H200 firmware H200V100R004 allows remote attackers to obtain a root shell via a crafted HTTP request. Asp_SetTimingtimeWifiAndLed parses the attacker-controlled param value with sscanf using an unbounded %[^;] field and writes beyond the V12 stack buffer. No prior privileges or user interaction are required; successful exploitation can execute code as root or interrupt service by restarting the process.
