Internal service access via incomplete IP filtering
Published Oct 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
SSRF in Google Web Stories 1.24.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to query or modify internal services through WordPress. At the /v1/hotlink/proxy REST endpoint, validate_url omits link-local and shared address ranges from its rejected-address list, so supplied URLs in those ranges are fetched by the server. Any authenticated WordPress account able to reach the endpoint can direct requests toward internal or cloud-metadata services; no service interruption is reported.
