Unauthenticated code execution via lang stack overflow
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in TOTOLINK A7000R 9.1.0u.6115_B20201022 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted language setting. The setLanguageCfg handler passes the attacker-controlled lang value through sprintf without enforcing the destination size, allowing program-counter control. The published HTTP proof of concept reaches /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi without authorization, and successful exploitation grants a root shell on the router.
