Root shell via switch_debug_info_set stack overflow
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C GR-1200W MiniGRW1A0V100R006 allows local users to obtain a root shell via a crafted switch_debug_info_set request. The function parses the param value with sscanf using an unbounded %s conversion, allowing oversized input to overwrite stack memory. Low-privilege local access is required; successful exploitation can execute code with root privileges and affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
