Unauthenticated code execution via oversized WAN parameter
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C GR-1200W MiniGRW1A0V100R006 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted WAN-mode parameter. UpdateWanModeMulti locates a semicolon in the param value and uses strncpy to copy all preceding bytes into an undersized stack buffer without enforcing its capacity. No authentication is required; the overflow can crash the router, and a controlled payload can establish a root shell.
