Root code execution via unbounded WAN-link parameter copy
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C GR-1200W MiniGRW1A0V100R006 allows remote attackers to execute code as root via a crafted WAN-link request. UpdateWanLinkspyMulti copies the HTTP param value with strncpy into the smaller V9 stack buffer without enforcing the destination size. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation grants a root shell, while malformed payloads can crash the process.
