Root-shell execution via unbounded UpdateSnat parsing
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C GR-1200W MiniGRW1A0V100R006 allows remote attackers to gain a root shell via UpdateSnat input. UpdateSnat parses the attacker-controlled param value with an unbounded %s conversion in sscanf, overflowing the V10 stack buffer when the value exceeds its capacity. The demonstrated path sends a crafted HTTP POST with a session cookie; exploitation can restart the process or establish a root shell.
