Remote code execution via UpdateDDNS overflow
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C GR-1200W MiniGRW1A0V100R006 allows remote attackers to execute code via the UpdateDDNS web request. The UpdateDDNS handler formats attacker-controlled param data with sscanf using an unbounded %s conversion, writing beyond the V11 stack buffer. The vulnerable request is unauthenticated according to the published CVSS vector; exploitation can provide a root shell and can also crash or otherwise compromise the router.
