CVE-2022-37013Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Pre-auth server hang via cyclic certificate chain

Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025

Certificate-processing DoS in Unified Automation OPC UA C++ Demo Server 1.7.6-537 allows remote attackers to hang the server. OpcUa_P_OpenSSL_CertificateStore_IsExplicitlyTrusted walks issuer links without detecting multi-certificate cycles, so a mutually issuing chain loops forever. The pre-authentication path needs only network reachability, and the single-thread spin leaves every OPC UA client without service.
