Arbitrary file deletion via TOCTOU race
Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
TOCTOU in Lenovo Vantage SystemUpdate Plugin 2.0.0.212 and earlier allows local users to delete arbitrary files through a race. Lenovo has not published the code locus or the checked resource whose state can be replaced before the plugin performs deletion. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and winning a high-complexity race; the bounded consequence is deletion of attacker-selected files.
