CVE-2022-36925

Local service interruption via reconstructable IPC key

Published Jan 9, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025

Insecure IPC key generation in Zoom Rooms for macOS before 5.11.4 allows local users to interrupt the service through privileged daemon calls. The client derives its daemon IPC encryption key from parameters available to a low-privileged local application, allowing that application to reconstruct the key and authenticate IPC messages. Elevated code execution is not established; the documented consequence is a local service interruption through privileged daemon operations.
