CVE-2022-36881Network attack vector

Git traffic interception via disabled SSH host checks

Published Jul 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Missing SSH host-key verification in Jenkins Git client Plugin 3.11.0 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept Git traffic. CliGitAPIImpl generates Unix and Windows SSH wrappers with StrictHostKeyChecking=no, while the JGit path accepts server keys without validation. An attacker must control the network path to an SSH Git repository and can read or alter Git traffic in transit.
