Local service interruption via CJK heap overflow
Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
A heap-based overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Sep-2022 Release 1 allows local users to cause a memory access fault. HWR::EngineCJK::Impl::Construct() in libSDKRecognitionText.spensdk.samsung.so constructs CJK recognition state without proper boundary checks, overrunning a heap buffer. Low-privileged local access is required, and Samsung reports a memory access fault rather than code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
