Protected-function access via missing framework permission
Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper privilege management in SystemUI on Samsung Mobile Devices running Android 10 through 12 allows attackers to use protected functions. A required custom permission is absent from the framework, so SystemUI exposes protected operations under its own privilege to untrusted local callers. Local application execution is required; Samsung has not identified the protected functions, so the resulting data and device effects remain undisclosed.
