Memory access fault via missing heap bounds check
Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices on Android 10 through 12 before SMR Sep-2022 Release 1 allows local users to cause a memory access fault. The GetCorrectDbLanguageTypeEsPKc function in libSDKRecognitionText.spensdk.samsung.so writes beyond a heap buffer because a boundary check is missing. Samsung's assessment requires local low-privilege access without user interaction, and the documented consequence is a memory access fault.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
