CVE-2022-36851

Physical data exposure via recent-app access failure

Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper access control in Samsung Pass before 4.0.03.1 allows physically proximate attackers to access stored data on an unlocked device. The recent-app usage path fails to enforce access restrictions before presenting protected Samsung Pass data. Physical possession and a particular recent-app state of an already-unlocked Galaxy device are required; the disclosed consequence is data exposure only.
