Memory-access fault via missing boundary check
Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices Q(10), R(11), and S(12) before SMR Sep-2022 Release 1 allows local users to cause a memory-access fault. The HWR::EngJudgeModel::Construct() function in libSDKRecognitionText.spensdk.samsung.so lacks the boundary check needed to prevent a heap buffer overwrite during model construction. Local low-privilege access is required, and the documented consequence is a memory-access fault in the affected library.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
