CVE-2022-36843

Memory access fault via unchecked heap write

Published Sep 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Sep-2022 Release 1 allows local users to cause a memory access fault. MHW_RECOG_LIB_INFO in libSDKRecognitionText.spensdk.samsung.so writes beyond a heap buffer because boundary validation is missing. A low-privileged local context can trigger the flaw without user interaction, interrupting the affected recognition component.
