Unauthorized access via unthrottled custom token guessing
Published Sep 28, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper rate limiting in ConnectWise ScreenConnect 22.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain access by guessing custom access tokens. The default configuration fails to throttle repeated custom access-token submissions, allowing exhaustive access-code attempts. No authentication or user interaction is required, and a successful guess grants unauthorized access to the protected resource.
