CVE-2022-36779Public exploit

Authenticated command execution via popen.cgi parameter

Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

OS command injection in Proscend router firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through its web interface. The cgi-bin/popen.cgi handler passes its command query parameter to an operating-system command interpreter without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Reachability requires adjacent-network access and a valid low-privilege session; successful exploitation runs commands in the router's operating-system context.
