Arbitrary plugin installation via missing CSRF checks
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in AddonsPress Advanced Import before 1.3.8 allows remote attackers to install and activate arbitrary plugins. The install_plugin AJAX action accepts an attacker-supplied slug and plugin path without a CSRF token, then invokes privileged plugin-management operations. A logged-in administrator must submit attacker-controlled content; installation is limited to WordPress.org plugins, while activation can target plugins already on the site.
