CVE-2022-3668Public exploit

Memory leak via unreleased MP4 atom allocations

Published Oct 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025

Memory leak in Axiomatic Systems LLC Bento4 1.6.0-639 mp4edit allows context-dependent attackers to consume memory via a crafted MP4 file. AP4_AtomFactory::CreateAtomFromStream allocates an atom that remains unreleased when malformed atom serialization terminates processing. Exploitation requires mp4edit to process the file; the published case demonstrates an 88-byte leak per execution without a documented crash.
