Stored XSS via unsanitized post descriptions
Published Sep 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in BlogEngine.NET 3.3.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in visitors' browsers. The /blogengine/api/posts endpoint stores a crafted Description value and later renders it on the home page without neutralizing executable HTML. Administrative access is required to create and publish the post, and a visitor must load the home page before the payload can alter displayed content or access browser-visible data.
