Unauthenticated memory corruption via unbounded sscanf parsing
Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in getsinglepppuser in Tenda G3 firmware 15.11.0.6(7663) allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via crafted input. The function uses sscanf to copy parsed, attacker-controlled fields into a fixed-size destination without enforcing its bounds. The network path requires no authentication or user interaction, and the overwrite can terminate the service or redirect its execution.
