Stored script execution via unsanitized Markdown posts
Published Aug 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Pagekit CMS 1.0.18 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in visitors' browsers through a crafted blog post. The Markdown editor accepts an SVG element carrying an onload handler, and the published article renders the handler as executable markup instead of neutralizing it. The payload runs only when a user visits the saved article, allowing actions or data access within that visitor's Pagekit browser context.
