Authenticated code execution via overwritable installation binaries
Published Aug 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect access control in Strawberry Perl 5.32.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code on Windows. The C:\Strawberry installation directory permits those users to overwrite executable binaries that later run as trusted software. Reachability requires authenticated Windows access with write permission to that directory; execution occurs when a replaced binary is launched.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
